Green Ginger (named after the
Humberside district, The Land of Green Ginger) played similar material
and gigs to the Synners, from roughly
'72-'73.
Images: Postcard size business card, circa '72; L-R: John Davis, Bob Deakin,
Robin Jaques, Dave Bruce. Gig shots (in front of the Cricketers Arms,
Seacroft Village Green, Leeds, May '73). L-R: John Davis (rhythm), Robin
Jaques (drums), Dave Bruce (bass), Bob Deakin (lead). I know that the
shots were taken whilst I (Dave Bruce) was singing Gimme Some Lovin' ,
as it was the only number on which I played bass with a pick (in order
to get reasonable clarity on the old EB3, playing double stopping !).
NB: Just to the left of Bob in the b/w shot is Dave Ward, our fantastic
roadie, sound engineer, percussionist (on Santana numbers) and good mate.
Dave went on to become the editor of the local Leeds paper, The Skyrack
Express.... and today, he still 'terrorises' the streets of Crossgates
!
